Foreign National/PIO’s
• Under these Regulations fifteen percent (15%) seats in all the
Institutions/ University Department approved by AICTE, offering
technical courses leading to Diploma Degree and Post Graduate Degree in
Engineering & Technology, Management & Town Planning, Pharmacy, Applied
Arts, MBA & MCA, Hotel from amongst Foreign Nationals/Persons of Indian
Origin (PIO’s) over and above the approved intake This is subject to the
availability of adequate infrastructural facilities in the respective
institutions. These supernumerary seats shall be exclusively meant for
the foreign students in the diploma, undergraduate and post-graduate
courses with a rider that under no circumstances a seat remaining
unfilled shall be allocated to any one other than a foreign student/PIO.

• General procedure for NRI/F.N/PIO
NRI in this context means Non-Resident Indians as defined in Income Tax
Act, 1961 with the following clarifications:
An individual is Non-Resident, when he/she is "not a resident" or who is
"not ordinarily resident". A person is treated as "not ordinary
resident" when any of the following conditions is satisfied.
(1) If he/she has not been resident in India in nine out
of ten preceding years;
(OR)
(2) If he/she has not been in India for a period of 730 days or more
during the preceding seven years.
Students of Indian origin are eligible to apply under Non
Resident Indian (NRI) quota.
They may be admitted under Management quota for admission to I year
Candidates seeking admission under NRI quota need to produce Provisional
Eligibility Certificate from university desiring to study
The following documents are needed for applying PEC.
1. Sponsorship
Letter in Original,
2. NRI Bank Account - Pass book
of the financial supporter.
3. Employer Letter of the
financial supporter (in Original).
4. Embassy Certificate of the
financial supporter (in Original).
5. Copy of Passport of the
financial supporter.
6. Evidence for having paid US
$1000 to the university desiring to study in
FEES
The concerned State Government shall lay down tuition and other fees for
candidates to be admitted Under NRI/Foreign National/Person of Indian
Origin (PIO’s)
